Taking your pet to the groomers can get costly especially if they only need a trim. But you're asking yourself, "Can I groom my dog at home myself?" The answer is a resounding yes! Grooming your Shih Tzu at home with scissors isn't as hard as you first might think--trimming a Shih Tzu's chin area is probably the easiest thing to groom, in my opinion. We are not experts - full disclosure, but keep in mind that Leona the Lion has to always be camera-ready and we'd never do anything to jeopardize that. This year at BarkWorld 2016, we met some great people from Andis Grooming. Their customer education specialist, Megan, was super helpful with giving us tips on trimming our Shih Tzu at home.
Leona even starred in a few of their videos and in return, we were given a pair of the Andis Grooming and Thinning Shears. Megan gave us such a wonderful demo that we felt comfortable and confident in doing it ourselves. (We won't we opening a grooming salon in Brooklyn any time soon-you can rest assured) but being able to do a simple dog trim at home is certainly a great thing for us.
